Vintage Style Valentines & Other Unique Gifts February 11, 2010

Once again, the store has holiday items I’ve never seen elsewhere. Check out the cute vintage style Valentines, our Danish designed heart boxes & red square container & the favorite felted mushrooms & embroidered hearts. A mom came in the store yesterday looking for Valentine gifts for her 14 year old son and left happy with several items she loved. (not the items below but more age appropriate gifts!)

Delicate Wooden Snowflakes December 11, 2009

I dream of real snow in Central Texas. Maybe that’s why these are my favorite ornaments in the store. I’ve hung them from branches on the wall and in the windows in my house. The large box contains 27 ornaments for $42. The smaller box has 12 snowflakes for $18.

So many beautiful, natural options in the store. The felt butterflies above ($7.50 each)  are my new favorites. The red felt ornaments below are made in crafting co-ops in Hungary & are some of our best selling ornaments this year (around $15 each).

New Advent Items from Sweden, Germany & England!

Our new Swedish wooden advent rings above come in 3 sizes (from $35 to $65), with either red or yellow birds or Christmas trees in between the candles. We carry beautiful advent candles from Germany made from 100% vegetable wax ($6 for a set of 2) as well as beeswax candles in many sizes. The wooden candle tree pictured below comes in multiple sizes as well, from $15 to $35.

Beautiful wall advent calendars from England also arrived, such as the singing angels calendar below ($21). We also carry Kathe Kruse’s popular stocking advent garland from Germany to fill with treats ($54). Check out our newest line of affordable, eco puzzles made from basswood grown in managed forests! Here’s a small sampling of the amazing styles we carry. The dragon is 11″ x 6″ x 1.5″ and is for ages 7+.  The tree balancing game is for 1 to 6 players (ages 6+).  These puzzles & games are in the $15 to $25 range.

Gifts of Peace November 16, 2009

Two gifts stood out to me in the store today. Amidst the rush of the holidays (and our own community’s race to Winter Fair!) it’s nice to see gentle reminders of peace this season. The first is one of my favorite ornaments in the store. It’s hand cast in lead free pewter. The ornament reads, “there is no way to peace. peace is the way. AJ Muste”. And the cast concrete wall hanging reads “Peace and Grace Be to this place” below the angel. Both items are U.S. made.

Getting Ready for Advent November 14, 2009

We have several different styles of advent calendars and advent rings in stock. The cast concrete, U.S. made advent ring below as well as a wooden advent ring (not pictured). And for advent calendars, we’re carrying the amazing Danish designed pixie, as well as Haba’s tree tower with a full set of  wooden nativity figures in each box (both shown below)! Haba’s tree tower sells for just under $40! We also have simpler woodland themed advent wall calendars for $6. And best of all, these items can be used year after year…
